Proposal for a Financial inclusion strategy

Panama's Ministry of Economy and Finance

In May the Ministry of Economy & Finance (MEF) presented its Proposal for a Financial Inclusion Strategy for Panama with which it hopes to contribute to meeting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and reducing the inequalities that exist in the country.

The document takes into account considerations by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the World Bank, and proposes a series of strategies to promote financial inclusion, including: the creation of a National Financial Inclusion Council, the development of a system for measuring financial inclusion; the digitalization of financial transactions, the extension of internet cover and the promotion of financial inclusion in the rural population, among other measures.
